I'm making an external gpu set up for my mac laptop and im wondering if the power supply here (Silverstone SFX 450W) would be enough to power a gigabyte g1 gaming 980, as the card needs 2X8 pin connectors but this power supply only apears to have 1 on the 12 volt rail.
should have as it has a total of 432 watts at 36a for 12volts & as not connected to a motherboard then you'll have that full 432 for that card. http/www.silverstonetek.com/product.php?pid=253
Use an adapter from regular moles connector to 8-pin.
IMO eGPU is waste since none of the external inputs such as usb have the same throughput of PCIe. a major choke point.
There are already 2*8 pin cables coming out of the power supply, that not the problem, the question was if it had enough amps from the second 8 pin connector. Also with a mac i have access to thunderbolt 2 so the bandwidth should be way less of a choke point.
