I have a Emerson lc401em2f tv. I was curious if there's any plug on this tv where I can take my typical pc speakers and plug into it?

Should be according to this link (see below). Have you looked at the various ports on the back of the HDTV?

See I've looked at the back and see the ports for your standard DVD player, or tv plugs, but nothing that would fit your typical computer speaker plug. I mean I own the tv and you would think I could locate the port because I believe it says it has one.. :O

Use the red/white audio out connection (page 26 of manual) with this sort of adapter cable and you'll be set:
