"PCs are running a 32-bit version of Windows"
Wait, what? I guess it makes sense, but I'm 99% sure that most gaming PCs aren't running 32-bit Windows.

Hardware-wise, it's pretty impressive, but no, it's nowhere near the "best" gaming PCs even today.

"because most PCs are running a 32-bit version of Windows,"

I'm pretty sure most PC's are running 64bit windows now.
Almost every OEM PC ships with windows 64bit and 4-8GB of ram, and most gamers, if you judge by steam's last survey are using 64bit systems with 64bit capable CPU's, just like their using mostly DX11 systems as well.

55% are using win7 64bit.
49% are using DX11.

But I do agree that this console generation gives me more hope then I originally felt, for not only more PC games, but better designed ones too, and hopefully using 64bit processing and DX11.

I just hope they stop using Always on DRM and calling it a feature.

So why is Epic limiting themselves to just the X-Box with Gears of War? Honestly, it's the only reason I bought the 360 because I was forced into it by exclusive titles. Even that XBL Gold fee can hardly be justified. Break Microsoft's stranglehold and release hundreds of thousands from having to buy the X-Box 720 or whatever to play your games.

So the elemental demo was done on a 2 gig, 8800gt PC…right?! Btw a “perfect pc”!? Really?! I’ve seen the comparison between the ps4 elemental demo and the (year old) pc demo.

And omg you are right! The ps4 is astounding, with all those particle effects and amazing physics and let's not even go into the textures quality. /sarcasm

But yeah it’s nice to see consoles going the pc route. If nothing else we will get “better” ports. RIGHT!?

Hi, I come from the future via a time-machine. I have a PC running 64bit OS + 16GB RAM which easily out-spec the PS4 speed.

Last years PC gaming parts... Most of us PC gamers have moved on to bigger and better, faster since these specs for a console that isn't even out for another 6 months. 16Gb of ram, i7 6 core at 4.5 (3930k) 2 x GTX 680s 4GB and 2560 x 1600 res. So not impressed Sony. And I have a PS3 for a media player nothing more. Games look hideous on it.

[citation][nom]red_stapler[/nom]71% of steam users are on 64 bit Windows operating systems.[/citation]
99.9999% of games are developed to work with 32bit though. Why intentionally exclude 29% of the enthusiast, 100% of the XP, and the majority of the casual market?

I think the move to using somewhat standard PC hardware and OpenGL/DX is the best thing Sony can do. It's been 5 years and people still don't know how to code properly for the cell in the PS3.

"We can do crazy, ridiculous stuff with that. It's like giving you the world's best mid to low-end PC."

-fixed it for ya.

But realistically, if you have a gaming PC there's no need for a PS4. Just wait a month for some hacker to emulate it, shouldn't be too hard, it's basically a mid range to low end PC.

With every new console release, you've got a few developers that get paid to say it's the next big thing, or that the console is so superior that the FBI will put a hold on it because it can be used to build the next nuclear fusion reactor, or whatever. These people should not even get published nor interviewed, period.
