I'm fairly new to this so try to take it easy on me. Brother gave me a G752VT which he factory reset. Wifi works, but when I try to use an ethernet cable it basially ignores it and just stays on Wifi.

What I've done so far

1.) Disable Wifi to see if it'll use the cable automatically (it doesn't)
2.) Make sure the cable is working with another laptop (it is)
3.) Check Network and Sharing to make sure Lan is enabled (it isn't there)
4.) Uninstall and reinstall Lan driver to see if it enables the Lan option, but says "Realtek Network Controller was not found. If Deep Sleep Mode is enabled please plug the Cable."
5.) Repeat step 3 in Safe Mode with Networking (still not there)

I heard that taking out the battery for at least 30 mins could fix it #4, but have yet to try it since the battery is built into the laptop and I don't want to risk doing that yet.

Solution
I don't think the battery would make a difference. It sounds like the Ethernet connection on the laptop just may not work any longer. It happens. You can try getting an external card to connect via Ethernet and see if that works.

I was afraid of that, will try that and see how it goes from there
