Solution
Core i5-2430M & GT 540M is a good match for gaming at medium graphics settings for modern games.
For future games 2 & 3 yrs out it's reasonable to expect you might have to play the most demanding games at lower settings.

As Pyree mentions laptops are not going to be 'future proof' gaming systems.

do not invest in a "gaming" laptop unless you desperately need frequent mobility ... u can use a light cost effective notebook for work and documents even movies and stuff but maintain a much more powerful gaming desktop for much cheaper . besides , all gaming laptops have ridiculous battery life anyway .
