Hi guys,

I have a laptop running at 1080p and 120hz with an external monitor plugged in running at 1440p and 120hz. When i turn the laptop on, it recognises that there is an external monitor plugged in (i can move my mouse to the edge of the laptop screen and beyond) however nothing displays on the external monitor. It goes into power saving mode and turns off as it doesnt think it's being sent a signal.

Once i get to desktop, i can open display settings on the laptop screen and change the external monitor to 60hz. Doing this causes it to work. I can then up this to 120hz and it displays fine at 120hz. The fact it's able to display at 120hz 1440p with this work around makes me think the issue isn't the physical connection but maybe something to do with software/drivers etc.

Any idea why it's not able to boot at 120hz?

To assist:

When i set the monitor to 60hz and restart the laptop it boots fine. When i change to 120hz and restart the laptop it only displays on the laptop screen and not the external.

Laptop mode: Hp Omen (17-An0xx)
Monitor: Kogan 32" 1440p (144hz max, set at 120hz)
