I'm on a mission, to avoid the whole laptop failing hinges problem. Currently running into the problem with 2 HP Envy's. One fails to hold on the bottom section of the case, the other is in the display section. I've already researched the problem to tears. And I have seen what HP charges to repair them, more than what I paid for the laptops. I've also tried the glue repair, and in both cases it failed after a few days. I'm more interested in what designs to avoid going forward. I understand the problem is not limited to HP's. I have seen reference to Dell's and Lenovo's failing the same way, and maybe also some Acer's. Does anyone have some insight as to what designs are ones to avoid? The manufacturers don't seem to be interested in redesigning their hardware, and the price of new laptops is way to expensive to continue going through this.
