Fan not working on laptop

Felt laptop bottom getting warm. Fan not working. All else is working fine. In mean time using a fan board to set laptop on. Was told to NEVER open the laptop up to check anything...please advise.

Your notebook's fan is programmed to shut off when not needed. Are you sure it's always off?

If your fan really isn't working, you're going to need to replace it. It's not hard to do. Who told you to never open your notebook, and why?
