Well, it's easier to bring out the anger and paranoia in people than I thought. It's almost Pavlovian: mention the FCC or RIAA and immediately you get "FUCK YOU" and "big brother" everywhere. Screw what the article actually says.

"Parents must have access to control technologies that can appropriately limit their children's exposure to unsuitable material," FCC Chairman Julius Genachowski said.

Yeah, that really sounds like the government trying to take control of our lives. /sarcasm

Seriously, this isn't even anything. They're basically saying, "Parental controls aren't very good. Maybe we should lend parents a hand and make some that work right."

And yes, it is the parents' responsibility to raise their children. Parental controls are just one means of assisting them to do so.

STOP CENSORING OUR LIVES.

Seriously, if a parent doesn't want their kid to see sex/violence on TV, don't let them watch those shows; if they don't want them to play violent games, don't let them play them. If parents would do their jobs this joke of a government branch wouldn't even exist.

The problem isn't censoring content for minors, the problem is when governments and/or corporations are allowed to create technology that censors content for all... All we need to to have ultra-conservative fundamentalists running things and have access to technology which allows them to socially engineer content for everyone based on their narrow view of morality.

Politics and the "R" word are about controlling to population through controlling the access to information, the last thing in the world that they want is free thinking individuals making up their own minds and deciding what is right and wrong, within reason of course... there are after all common sense universally applicable right and wrong concepts, activities, ideas, etc.

It sounds like very few of you who posted comments actually have kids.

That being said - there is only one person / place / or thing parent can point a finger of blame at for how their child developed and what they were exposed to during their youth. And that is themselves.

Take control parents. And most importantly - be the role model your kids need most !!!!

[citation][nom]LORD_ORION[/nom]Stating "consumers be warned" in the article just reinforces the fact that this "article" is paid for.[/citation]

By who?? This reporter is just interjecting his own opinion, as he frequently does :\ His opinion is quite common and is one that I share as well.
