"The "war" isn't rwally anything new."

WTF?

Anyway, its about time AT&T and Verizon got a slap in the face considering their terrible data plans.

Yes, it is a minor typo, but don't you think that any professional writer would, at the absolute minimum, run a simple spell check - which would have caught this mistake. The issue here is that spelling mistakes discredit the competency of the author. This is just a matter of fact.

I think the whole net neutrality issue will still take a while to hammer out. Perhaps even as long as a decade or more to figure out what that really means and how it should apply.

On the one hand, the rule is great. On the other hand, I guess that it really isn't the government's place to dictate that... Oh the joys of politics.

I'm not sure if relying on spell check does anything to protect the competency of the author.

The spelling/typo/grammar police on this site really need to get a life. There's a big difference between pointing out mistakes so they can be fixed, and pointing them out as if they've never made a mistake in their lives and finding a typo makes them so superior.

Spelling/typo police needs to get a life? How about article writer on a well-known site needs to use spellchecker before publishing to the public. It's an embarrassment. Even this "talkback" has a spellchecker.
Typos turn a professional article to a kiddie's blog.

I could understand if you people were bitching cause you paid for this site... Otherwise it's a mistype, you people still keep coming back so apparently you are just trolls...

Seriously how do you sue the freaking FCC and think you are going to win. Comcast needs to stop spending so much money on lawyers and start spending money on upgrading their networks to the point they don't have to worry about throttling.

It isn't the governments place to make sure we all have access to the same internet, the same information? I'm all for keeping the governments hands out of many pies, but in this case keeping net neutrality ensures that noone - including the government - can decide what we can and can not have access to.

lets all hope that what ever the FCC is planning that they succeed or we all are gonna be feeling it.

I hope the existing landline Internet rules that include a provision forcing telcos to allow users to "attach any non-harmful device to the network" are going to force ATT and Verizon to allow tethering. I wish I could support another phone company that didn't have such arcane rules preventing me from using my spare minutes to check my work email or play some flash games on a laptop, but Verizon has a monopoly on the rural network where I live.

wholie Krap is this what ppl got to say abut net nutrality. How well the writer spells. Fact most really good writer don't spell really well. Typos are not a sign of anything.
Now on to the comment. Wow the FCC!?!? I guess they want us to think that there on are side. I do wounder why the FCC is doing this. It's been an interesting 30 years for the FCC. Maybe they fell they had to much of a bad guy rep. Now they hope to gain some face in the eyes of the common man. lol I will still have to see how this one plays out before I will even think of trusting the FCC again. Metal for life, you hear me FCC, 4LIFE!!!!!!!!!!! :)

Woot, no more throttling of my p2p connections. Also Comcast should remember most of the lines they run through were laid down by the FCC. Sure they can get off their lines, but then what kind of broadband company would you be if you cannot service 70% of the US.

I see the future which ISPs are either driven out of business or raised their fee to the degree that they have to be nationalized in order to exert price control, at the expense of taxpayers.

'Cause the FCC won't let me be, let me be me so let me see'

I think there should be a third party investagation regarding how companies divert their bandwidth. I have AT&T in Madison, Wisconsin. My friend in Milwaukee, Wisconsin has the same stuff that I have (carrier, service plan, even modem) and he has amazing speeds every hour of the day while I have to cross my fingers and pray my DSL downloads go over 80KB/s.
Thats wayyyy too drastic of a difference based on location for me to shrug off, internet carriers are getting pretty sleazy these days.

Isn't the acronym 'FCC' short for Federal Communications Commission? And this is an article about communications, right? Carriers hold their license at the pleasure of the government, right? As do cable operators? Fixed line companies as well? 'Bout time that the FCC started doing its job, they seem to have been MIA for a few years now.

I think that ISP's should have a meter of local network usage.
Often there are times when more people are using the net (eg: after 6PM) than other times (EG: the night).
I think they should have some sort of graphic available, that will allow some users to download files at certain hours (eg: after 10PM, and before 8AM).
That way no one will suffer from bandwidth loss, traffic might go fast, and the files downloaded overnight (if possible) might download faster than during the day.

Just an idea... I don't think throttling bandwidth is a proper way of dealing with customers. But if a total network's bandwidth becomes too tight, perhaps this could free up some bandwidth in "internet traffic hours".
