Hello.

I'm planning to buy a new amplifier to connect to my PC.
What i wanted to know is if you connect the amplifier to the sound crard of a PC via fiber optics, will the sounds (especially noises from the PC) will be eliminated?
I've noticed that if you connect good earphones directly to the sound card without playing anything you can hear various sounds that probably come from the fans, etc.

Thanks in advance.

advantages of fibre
Greatly increased bandwidth and capacity
Lower signal attenuation (loss)
Immunity to Electrical Noise
Immune to noise (electromagnetic interference [EMI] and radio-frequency interference [RFI]
No crosstalk
Lower bit error rates
Signal Security
Difficult to tap
Nonconductive (does not radiate signals)Electrical Isolation
No common ground required
Freedom from short circuit and sparks
Size and Weight
Reduced size and weight cables
Environmental Protection
Resistant to radiation and corrosion
Resistant to temperature variations
Improved ruggedness and flexibility
Less restrictive in harsh environments
Overall System Economy
Low per-channel cost
Lower installation cost

so ye pretty much...

yes, but i think the OP is worried about interferences and such, and actual physical noise within the computer case, affecting analogue signals.
