There is no single best plan, depends on how you use the phone. Fido does not have a US service, at least I have never heard of them anywhere in the US.

Figure out what you need, look into come companies. If you are only in the US for a short amount of time, you'd want a month to month or a per minute phone. Metro PCS has a good unlimited phone/text service for $40 a month.
