Hi everyone!

I've been trying to find a suitable laptop for some time but have never been able to find anything that fits all of my needs.

1. What is your budget?

~£1000

2. What is the size of the notebook that you are considering?
Medium (~15")

3. What screen resolution do you want?

1080p

4. Do you need a portable or desktop replacement laptop?
Somewhere inbetween

5. How much battery life do you need?
At least 4 hours.

6. Do you want to play games with your laptop? If so then please list the games that you want to with the settings that you want for these games. (Low,Medium or High)?
A mixture of modern titles ( GTA V, Cities Skylines, TF2, Civ V) (Medium preferable)

7. What other tasks do you want to do with your laptop? (Photo/Video editing, Etc.)
Watching films (I need a good IPS display), Music production (Pro Tools and Sibelius ( Therefore a large amount of RAM is needed, at least 8gb)

8. How much storage (Hard Drive capacity) do you need?
At least 250gb SSD

9. If you are considering specific sites to buy from, please post their links.
UK based companies preferable

10. How long do you want to keep your laptop?
Roughly 5 years

11. What kind of Optical drive do you need? DVD ROM/Writer,Bluray ROM/Writer,Etc ?
Not fussed but would be a bonus.

12. Please tell us about the brands that you prefer to buy from them and the brands that you don't like and explain the reasons.
I'm keen on Asus because I have experience of good build quality. As long as the build quality is good I'm happy.

13. What country do you live in?
The U.K

14. Please tell us any additional information if needed?
The problem I've been having is that all the laptops I find are gaudy. The laptop needs to be suitable for my mother to use without looking silly. No ROG logos or flashing LEDs etc.

I know I'm fussy :) Any suggestions are appreciated.

Sorry for the late reply. Those look good, but I would prefer a UK company if possible due to the fact that I would get a proper warranty. I've been looking at custom laptops from PC specialist; have any of you had experience with them? What is e build quality like?

It really comes down to who is actually assembling them. Not sure who does the work for PC Specialist or if they do it in-house.

As long as they honor their warranty you shouldn't have anything to lose by trying.

There are a few posts with good reviews of PC Specialist, you can always do a web search and see.
