Finding your Windows XP serial number

A couple years ago I saw a free application for retrieving your Windows XP serial number.

I am currently running XP.

I'm going to upgrade the system and want to re-instal the OS.

I have the original retail XP install disk, but have lost the serial number.

Anyone know what that application might be?

Hi, I always use Belarc Advisor, http/www.belarc.com/free_download.html
It gives a hardware and software audit, so shows all your license numbers.
It tells you other handy things as well, and I've used it for years to get an overview of systems that I work on. Enjoy!
