The laptop is Toshiba Satellite L500. Bought way back in 2009. Configuration: Pentium Core 2Duo T6600, 3 GB RAM.
 
Do you get anything when you try to boot it?

You may need Toshiba to fix it but there isn't normal warrantee for a failed BIOS update and you are probably well passed it anyway. Sorry but there may be nothing you can do.
 


It is totally unresponsive. While flashing ,it got hung. I waited for around 15-20 minutes but it remained in the same state. Later I took out the power cord and battery. When I tried starting it nothing happened...no lights...nothing.
 
Hi, let's start with the obvious, check the adapter voltage, the proper voltage and polarity is written on the adapter itself.
