fn keys only work with volume

on my asus fx53 laptop, my fn keys arent responsive or do what they should. for example, fn + f3 is the button to turn off the LEDs on my keyboard. the only fn keys are fn + f10, f11 and f12, which are my volume buttons. do i need to install new drivers? thanks in advance.
