Hi guys, I have an old Acer v3-571g with i7-3632qm and 2 video cards, one is Intel HD4000 and another is Nvidia GeForce GT 630M.
Recently I bought an 27 '' Philips 276E8VJSB 4K Ultra HD monitor and I want to use it at maximum resolution but unfortunately the Intel HD4000 max resolution is 1920x1200 at 60 Hz. From Nvidia specs I found that GT 630M can run Up to 2048x1536 (www.geforce.com/hardware/notebook-gpus/geforce-gt-630m/specifications)

Now my question is, how can I force entire system to use only nvidia card? (Because 2K is better than 1920x1200...)
I tried using device manager to disable Intel card but after restart I got a strange resolution 640xsomething and no other higher.
From bios I don't have any option to disable intel card.
It is possible to get 2K resolution using VGA from laptop to monitor? now is on HDMI. On Nvidia website at specs is:
Display Support:
Up to 2560x1600Maximum Digital Resolution
Up to 2048x1536Maximum VGA Resolution
Yes HDCP
Yes HDMI

Is there any other sollution / device which will help me to achieve the 4k resolution ?

Thanks.

Solution
Both cards work as hybrid, the HD4000 is used for 2D desktop use and the GT630M for 3D applications.
Usually you need the CPU graphics to run the laptop and can´t only use the dedicated GPU.
