format a cd-r in a vaio running vista

I cant get to the autoplay screen to format a cd-r disc

You shouldn't need to format a CD-R. They should come already formatted.

Now if there is stuff already on it, and you are trying to format it to remove that stuff and add different stuff, that won't work. CD-R disks are like not re-writable. Only CD-RW disks are.
