Question FPS quadruples when getting external monitor?

I recently bought a 4K monitor to go with my laptop system. When launching Minecraft on the laptop monitor, I get around 130 FPS, which is a little less than what I used to get before connecting the monitor. This is expected as the laptop controls two monitors. However, when I drag the Minecraft tab into the 4K monitor, I get almost quadruple the frames. A game of bedwars runs at 500+ FPS, and at one point I nearly got 1000. Before I had any monitor, (just the laptop one) I got 200-300 FPS. Does anyone know why this is happening? (BTW, the extra frames are definitely not a problem, just wondering why it is so high)
Laptop specs:
i7-9750H
RTX 2060
16GB Ram
Laptop monitor is 1080p
External monitor is 4K

Here is a picture of the FPS: View: https://imgur.com/a/fbYkPUW
