You'll have the chance of enjoying the superb quailty of the picture
once you put an offer. I already have offer upto $2200, so I'll sell
to the person with the highest offer. Can deliver in
Brooklyn/Queens/Manhattan. These were purchased on 6/28 directly from
gateway, but due to change of plans we don't need the TVs any more,
and reluctant to ship heavy items back to CA. Paid $3000 for the TV,
so it's definitely a GREAT deal!



The TV displays super crisp digital picture in 1080i or 480p
(depending on HD or Non-HD signals) and you'll get a MUCH MUCH MUCH
brighter and better picture than any other higher end projection TVs,
or similar plasmas that are priced over $3000 in Circuit City or Best
Buy. It has plenty of inputs, including VGA, RGB, DVI, Component
video, S-Video-- so it's ready for your home theater, HD or non-HD
digital cable box or satellite receivers, dvd,VCR, and of course it
can be used as a great computer display.

The Gateway 42" plasma is *not* HDTV. It can only do 480p (EDTV). I
suggest you get your facts straight before trying to sell a $2300 item!

You have to go up to the 50" model to get a HDTV.

I was wondering about that. I knew they were mainly for watching DVD's with
a progressive scan DVD player at 480p.

NOt really. It's capable of displaying in 1080i format for true HD
signals from digital cable/satellite. Also, the progressive scan DVD
players will play in 480p format, and it also supports 720p.

In short, HDTV signals will look MUCH more crisp and life like than
regular channels, and DVD's will look somewhere in between, but still
all digital, flawless quality.

I think you mean that it only displays in 720 and upconverts 480. If it
displayed 480 as 480 it would only vill part of the screen.

The TV itself is listed as EDTV. That means it can physical display
480 lines of progressive-scanned material. Anything that may come in
as 720 or 1080 will be down-converted to 480p.

My point is simply that the Gateway 42" Plasma is not a HDTV, so
advertising as such is misleading. It is specifically an EDTV.

To make it clear -- it can process and display HDTV channels but not at the
native HD resoultions of 1080i nor 720p...the HD channels get downcoverted
to 480p. But the TV can display HDTV channels just don't expect HD quality
picture...

If you kept telling her that, she would insist you were wrong...that it can
show HD...of course I see your point...but do you see her's and mine? I
wouldn't advertise this TV as HDTV ready either...I would explain it the way
I just did. You never know, some people might find the HDTV channels
downconverted to 480p quite acceptable just to have an affordable
plasma...it's much better than sd anyway.
