Fujifilm S8300 not taking full hd photos

I recently bought a fujifilm finepix s8300 and when I am using it to take photos at auto settings it shows an L on the screen and behind it is full hd. How can I make it take full hd photos ?
Any useful help would be appreciated

Please read the owners manual.
The S8300 is capable of way more than 1080 when taking pictures.
