I've been reading about everyone using the new 11.11 drivers, and I thought you could only use the ones on Asus' site to update this laptop?? I've also read alot of horror stories about stuff not working afterwards. If my laptop is running fine, should I update it? It is still as stock as the day I bought it as far as drivers, bios, vbios?, and that stuff goes. Thanks.

If you are playing games such as Battlefield 3, you should update.

If you don't play many new games then you don't have to update.

Sometimes it's a good idea to update, usually you can get extra performance and improved stability.

I would recommend staying up to date though.

Thank you. I am playing Skyrim right now. I tried updating once before, and it was a terrible experience! After deleting my drivers, I couldn't figure out what to do with driver sweeper, and after installing new drivers, it wouldn't recognize my video card! So I had to do a system restore.

I have found this site for utilities:

http://www.asusrog.com/forums/showthread.php?1150-G73-Series-Driver-and-Application-Reference

This site for drivers:

http://support.amd.com/us/gpudownload/windows/Pages/radeonmob_win7-64.aspx

But what do I download if I delete my old drivers?

-Catalyst Software Suite(1.2mb)
-CCC(89.7mb)
-or both of them??

---Edit: Here's another! http://downloads.guru3d.com/AMD-Catalyst-11.11a-32-and-64-bit-download-2814.html
-It's 148mb?????

-and what about the "Media Codec Package(52.2mb)" in the third tab?

---Edit: Just found this pretty handy website! http://www.asusrog.com/forums/showthread.php?5224-New-Drivers

And the bios--I updated the bios on my old desktop, and it ran like crap afterward. And I couldn't figure out how to revert back to stock. Even a destructive system restore wouldn't do it! My bios is from 1/4/10. Oddly, the oldest on Asus' site is 1/23/10?

This is going to be my reference for my latest driver installation attempt. (post 14)(Chris-Ch)

I had the exact same problem, Catalyst Control Center won't open.
Did the below steps and it works fine now.
1.I went to AMD website ... http://game.amd.com/us-en/drivers_catalyst.aspx
2.Downloaded and Saved to my desktop the “Full Catalyst Software Suite (Recommended)” for my PC and suitable for my Win 7 64-bit operating system (For now, it's ATI Catalyst version 10.2 ...about 71.3MB).
3. After saving the full Catalyst Suite to my desktop,
I next, Downloaded/Installed/Opened Ccleaner from ... http://www.piriform.com/ccleaner/u [...] 111&l=1033 ... (for now, it's version 2.29)
4.Clicked Analyze.
5.Ran Cleaner to delete the analyzed files.
6.Rebooted PC.
7.Opened Ccleaner again after reboot.
8.Clicked Tools (left column).
9.Clicked (highlighted) "Catalyst Control Center" (available in my system) and clicked Run Uninstaller (right column).
10.When uninstall was completed, then next, I uninstalled "ATI Catalyst Install Manager".
11.(if "Catalyst Control Center" is not in Ccleaner, go directly to "ATI Catalyst Install Manager" and uninstall it using CCleaner as in #9 above).
12.NEXT, I opened (2-clicked) my downloaded “Full Catalyst Software Suite” that I downloaded to my desktop earlier.
13.UNINSTALLed everything by checking the “UNINSTALL” button ... DID NOT install yet ... there are still elements, like driver, not cleaned out yet by Ccleaner. Followed the steps of the Catalyst Suite and uninstalled everything, including the driver.
14. When done, rebooted PC.
15.Again, as in #12 above, I opened my downloaded “Full Catalyst Software Suite” that I downloaded to my desktop earlier.
16.This time, I INSTALLED the whole Suite by checking the INSTALL button ... installed everything.
18.Rebooted and my Catalyst Control Center worked great ... exactly as it should.

How low are your video temps? Skyrim dropped from 107C to 75C just by blowing out the back vents. Have you oc'd the card at all? Mine likes to crash every so often if I do, so I run 750/1050.
