Galaxy s2 won't charge!

I have a Samsung galaxy s2, I put it on charge last night and forgot to take it off this morning. Overall it has been on charge for about 15 hours. Last night it was on and working but when I went to take it off charge it was hot and wouldn't turn on. I have taken out the battery etc and still won't work. When it does try to turn on it sometimes comes up with a grey battery with an arrow like the buffering arrow on YouTube and doesn't stay on for more then a second. Any help would be much appreciated, thank you.

No, it won't turn on at all

could just be the battery is totally dead, or bad charger port. Both can be replaced. I would start off with a new battery. Even aftermarket via ebay.
