Games lagging after fresh Win7 install on G60VX

My first post but ill get straight to the point.

Laptop specs - ASUS G60VX
CPU- Intel T9600 @ 2.80GHZ
Memory- 4.00GB
GPU- Nvidia GTX 260M
Disk- 300GB SSD (now a 500GB HDD)

my OS crashed a few days ago and wouldnt let me onto windows. Just kept saying startup repair has failed. So i decided to format my HDD and install a Windows 7 Ultimate i had onto it. Everything seems just great other then the disk spiking to 100% every few seconds. Prior to the SDD failure i could run games like World of tanks and Euro truck sim 2, Faster than light and a few other online games at around 40-70FPS easily without lag after i OC the GPU a tad and run everything on a game booster.

Now one the other hand after installing Ultimate 64, updating all the drives, running in game booster with a slight OC (or without OC doesnt matter) it will lag every few seconds (sound doesnt lag) then snap back then lag again. Lag can last any where from .5 sec to 6 sec making it imposible to play any game. my laptop doesnt have any bloatware, it has about 5 programs installed and everything is up to date. ANY help is much appreciated.

Any help at all? I just formatted my HDD again and installed from Disk. Updated all the essential drives. Adobe flash, Advanced System care pro, Euro truck sim 2, Java, Firefox, all the Nvidia drives, Steam and thats it. Still Lagging on ETS2 and sometimes freezes while on desktop now but its rare. Also i still cant get my now formatted SSD to work internally but it works just fine in a external case to USB. Just played ETS2 for 20 mins. Max temps are as listed
G60VX - 63c
CPU - 61c (both cores)
HDD - 34c
GPU - 86c
so i dont believe its temps at all

Chkdsk shows absolutely nothing. lag spikes between 2-8 seconds apart. HDD is defrag as much as possible. Have to run in high performance mode to get any gaming done at all. My laptop is being wasted on Youtube now since thats all i can really do. So help is still needed and very much appreciated.

Played Sleeping dogs all day with little to no lag, ran the games benchmark test and it got 28-31 FPS (locked to 30fps setting). No lag at all in the game till tonight when it started to lag in a race. now i cant even get past loading screens because it locks up wont load the picture and just sound is playing. black screen. So still in need of help.

Can you tell me what graphics driver version you have? Also is the 500gb a 7200rpm or 5400rpm?
