Gaming Headsets w/ mic

My headset started giving me trouble, I ordered a new set. Came today but I really do not care for them. Being old school and set in my ways, I had gotten used to the mic on the right side and controls on the same side along with being ear on (never put the ear over and ear on thing together)..... With a USB connection, and they always worked fine.MOD H540. They new set is a Siberia V3 Prism. I hate the ear over and the mic on the left side and no volume control on the headset. Just the mute button/switch. I do not play much gaming but that is why I originally purchased the headset at the beginning for what I do play . My search has come to almost no choices other than getting another H540. Any suggestions?
