I am having trouble deciding on a laptop. Any advice would be much appreciated!
1. What is your budget?
1000-1200
2. What is the size of the notebook that you are considering?
15-16
3. What screen resolution do you want?
1366x768 is fine. 1920 X 1080 would be nice.
4. Do you need a portable or desktop replacement laptop?
Something between the two. I have a desktop that I do most of my gaming on so the laptop doesn't need to be a beast or anything. It also doesn't need to be ultra portable.
5. How much battery life do you need?
Doesn't matter
6. Do you want to play games with your laptop? If so then please list the games that you want to with the settings that you want for these games. (Low,Medium or High)?
Absolutely. Portal 2, Fallout 3/New Vegas, Starcraft II, Civ V. High would be nice, but I think medium would suffice since it isn't my main gaming rig.
7. What other tasks do you want to do with your laptop? (Photo/Video editing, Etc.)
Nothing particular. Might need to bring it to school now and then but not a lot. Possibly some movies/music.
8. How much storage (Hard Drive capacity) do you need?
Anything that laptops come in these days would suffice.

11. What kind of Optical drive do you need? DVD ROM/Writer,Bluray ROM/Writer,Etc ?
Blu-ray would be nice. I could live without it if I had to.

I was/am a fan of Asus as I have many parts from them in my desktop and was considering the the G53 series from them but after hearing many complaints about the power button and other things and bad tech support I don't know anymore. Otherwise have heard they are great quality.
Really, I am open to any brand. I have owned a mac laptop for the last 7-8 years so I don't have any thoughts on any of them.

Like I said, was considering the Asus G53 but it seems like it is a massive laptop and has had some issues. Also looking at Alienware m14x. Also considering this Asus:

I think where I am really conflicted is over the GPU. From what I understand the Nvidia 540M would do what I want for the most part right now with games on medium at 1366 X 768 resolution. My concern is if it will be able to keep up a few years from now. But everything with a Nvidia 460m seems pretty hefty and big.
