Gaming laptop screen refresh rate??

1)I want to buy a gtx 880m laptop. And I want the screen refresh rate to be 120hz / 144hz because the gtx 880m can run some games at 70+ FPS. 1) does someone know the refresh rate on the DIGITAL STORM KRIPTON, BEHEMOTH, LANSE or on the DEVILTECH FRAGBOX because these are the options I am considering.

i don't laptops come with refresh rates other than 60 Hz. The gpus arent that powerful enough to push that high fps at any decent settings. The 880M is about on par with a GTX 760 or a HD 7950 or a R9 280

depends on the resolution. at 1080p? probably not. The gtx880m is roughly on par with a desktop gtx 660 or 7870; on high the 660 can't even get 45fps in 1080p in bf4; and a 7870 will be scratching around 55fps without mantle.

a desktop 780 can do that type of fps... but laptop gpus are a different matter altogether. This is why i laugh when i see so called "gaming" laptops with resolutions higher then 1080p... those laptop gpus just aren't strong enough.

The previous poster is right though, no laptop screen will come with a higher refresh rate then 60hz. that eats up way too much power.

retards is a harsh word when you can't read your own link propperly.

It benches at 45fps on ultra at 1080p... which is exactly what i said it would, and on high it pulls down 100fps BUT it's benched in 1366x768... NOT 1080p; 1366x768 is almost exactly half the pixels of a 1080p; just playing a game here but if you sorta want to extrapolate that 105fps in 1366x768 into 1080p, just cut that number in half... you get 52fps. Which again is right about where i said it would land.

I have been around this block a LONG time and have a pretty good idea what i'm talking about. you asked for advice and when you heard something you didn't want to believe you threw around insults and belittled the people you asked for help. Now if what you're actually saying is you want a 1366x768 resolution screen with 120hz refresh rate, i doubt you'll ever find on on a laptop with a 880m. They just don't put monitors that crappy on a 880m. Now, you might hit 60fps in high settings at 1600x900... and you MIGHT find a 1600x900 monitor with a 880m, but again you won't find one with a 120hz refresh rate nor will the 880m be good enough to get you enough fps to need it.

Now i not only told you the 880m probably wouldn't hit 60fps in BF4 at 1080p, but i also gave you a 2nd answer to your question. That answer was they DON'T MAKE monitors for laptops with a higher refresh rate then 60hz because it DRAINS TOO MUCH POWER.

🙁 thanks, but I'm not feeling that happy about it. Sorta wish it hadn't got that acrimonious. That said the OP's question was valid. Setting BF4 aside at 1080p that 880m will pull down more then 60fps in most titles, I just wish i had the answer he wanted, which was "what laptop monitor comes with a high refresh rate"... for all i know there might be a laptop monitor out there that does handle a refresh rate in the 120hz range. I've just never seen one myself. And it's for the reason i stated, 1080p resolution already drains a boatload of power, that type of refresh-rate just makes it worse.

as to the specific laptops, only the digital storm krypton and behemoth come with a 880m. the Lance comes with a 860m. According to reviews Digital storm uses a mediocre 1080p monitor, which is bellow average, so i would probably avoid them. In reviews on the Fragbook there are also concerns voiced about the quality of the monitor, so i would probably avoid it too.

the asus, msi and alienware lines all have some amazing gaming laptops. you might want to look through those. but again, i don't think any of them come with a monitor with a higher then 60hz refresh rate.

Hi there guys... I see some of you are having a hard time with getting more than 60hz on your gaming laptops. I have a solution for some of these problems your having, but it's still not where it needs to be for me or any pro gamer.

If you have a 3d gaming laptop, you can go in to nVidia control panel and create a custom resolution with your screen size and refresh rate manually and see if it works or not.

I have found on the ASUS ROG Laptops to be very stable at 100hz on all resolutions. 120hz is possible, but not stable enough to game on as the screen is not designed to push 120hz flawlessly.

The reason why we need 120/144hz, is because of the responsiveness of the game/screen, and how smooth the game appears while playing.

Most pro gamers and myself will always turn down graphics to make sure we hit our 120/144 fps's to match our refresh rate. If you are not hitting these high frame rates, your losing...

Only thing I and pro gamers care about is winning. Whatever it takes.

For now, I haven't seen any gaming laptop that compares or meets my minimum requirements to play at 100%. I hope to see a 144hz gaming laptop in the future as this would be huge for a gamer on the go like myself.

I felt TOTALLY Regret buying this Laptop.... cause :

It IS BOTTLENECk at 48Hz !! My Display is VERY BEAUTIFUL but the PERFORMANCE is VERYx3 LOW.... The Display is very lagging and stutter at certain time even though it have a QuadCore CPu i7 4720HQ.... This is because intel use OPTIMUS method to render Display... even Intel nowAdays still NOT SUPPORTED UHD / 4K Display....

Then, because of the UHD Display, U Gonna LOW Down Ur RESOLUTION in Almost Every GAme.... As for Skyrim... :

your issues with the 4k display are pretty much what we were talking about with regard to laptop gpus. they aren't that strong. there isn't a single desktop gpu that can really handle 4k, not sure why they'd EVER put a 4k display on a laptop, but sure enough they do.

The whole Laptop industry is filled with "numbers" racing. Manufacturers seem to think they need to shove the highest numbers into their laptops to get them to sell. The result is most "gaming" laptops simply can't play games in thier native resolution. Many have zero battery life because their hardware is insane. Throw in the fact the prices are out of this world for those laptops, and you have a pretty iffy market out there.

A few years ago i used to suggest specific $500-$700 720p laptops as "gaming" laptops, because you could get 8 hours of gaming on the battery for one, and you could play pretty much any title in 720p at medium to high settings. It was the "sweet spot" in laptop hardware. Stick a SSD in one of those laptops and your user experience was quiet high.

in many ways that place in the market still is the sweet spot.

Anti glare means just that, bright lights won't wash the colors out, so it's a "non-shiny" screen (yes they make screens shiny for some reason, they do the same thing with desktop monitors as well)

IPS is a type of display, it has very wide viewing angles, and generally presents a "clearer" picture then standard LCD display. It can be very nice on a laptop, who usually are sadled with poor monitors with bad viewing angles, meaning typing on your... you know... lap, can be an adventure sometimes.

no clue on the official prices for 15" UHD monitors. frankly, and this is another reason i can't fathom them putting UHD displays on a laptop, I don't believe your face is close enough to a laptop to be able to tell the difference on a 17" screen from UHD and 1080p. (i saw a chart on distance from the monitor vs size of monitor before the human eye could tell the difference, at 17" screen size i think you had to be 3" from the monitor to be able to tell the difference between 1080p and UHD).

Typically speaking 1080p is good enough up to 24" at typical desktop distances. larger 1080p monitors are ok if they're further from the user then "standard". so if they're good enough up to 24" in size on the desktop in 1080p, i'd think that's all you'd ever need for a laptop.

@Ingtar33 I'm not sure you really know WHAT you're talking about despite saying you think you do. Laptops are fully capable of outputting 120+hz refresh rate. It's solely dependant on the video card in the laptop and requiring an external monitor that is capable of such. I myself run a Benq xl2720z and I professionally game from my MSI laptop with only a 570m geforce and run CS:GO at 120hz. The better your graphics card, the higher resolution you can run at a higher refresh rate. My 570m caps out for 120hz at around 1440x900 screen resolution but that is only because my graphics card is not great. With an 880m laptop, you can easily push 1920x1080 at 144 hz, monitor depending.

If you're going to give advice, atleast have actual facts and information to back yourself up, instead of just spewing whatever comes out of your legs.
