Gaming/multimedia laptops

Hi first post so I have no idea what I'm doing. Anyways I'm in the market for a laptop that will play recent games and one that I can use for collage when I start next year. My budget is 1000 euro and i'm from ireland so if I have to pay for shipping please keep in mind with my budget.

as much as possible on budget

Have you checked out any etailers e.g. scan, dabs, overclockers, ebuyer

For gaming you do want a dedicated card (nvidia/amd) but you'll have to ballance this off with reduced time between charges.

I was thinking along the lines of the lenovo y580 or the Asus N56VZ. The asus is available in hd but the lenovo is not as it is not released in ireland yet, so if I went for that one I would have to make do with the small resolution. Would buying custom laptop from the sites you mentioned give me better bang for my buck?

They let you select from a range of components for your build, but you do have to have an idea of what you are doing. For cost, try out pcspecialist http/www.pcspecialist.co.uk/ - look at the laptop sections for multimedia and gaming - the shop will also help advise (I've purchased from them 2 yrs ago).

Why not compare the Lenovo and Asus specs (cpu, gfx, memory, SSD/HDD, screen) and see how much the custom costs for the same core components. You might be surprised, either way.

only proble I have with the custom build laptops is that I don't know what the laptop feels like. Like if the keyboard is of good make etc. I know these would give me a great deal for my money but I'd rather stick with the ain brands of laptops so I can watch vidoes and see what they are like.
