Laptop was working fine. I closed the lid to put it in sleep mode. When I came back hours later, the screen was frozen. Tried CTRL/ALT/DEL which did nothing. Tried holding ON/OFF button down with no effect. Disconnected power and removed battery to shut down. Replaced battery and power cord, booted up and logged in. Screen went back to same screen as after sleep mode and froze. Any ideas? Thanks

Solution
Try pulling the power and battery again and then, while they are both out, hold down the power button for about 30 seconds. That should get it to not keep the info.

However, that will not resolve the whole problem. As to why it is stuck that way. It could be hardware, software, virus, malware, etc.
