Looking for 1080p, can settle with 900p

Combination of both will be okay

5. How much battery life do you need?

more than two hours which is pretty much guaranteed anyways

CANADA

14. Please tell us any additional information if needed.

I already have a tablet for ultimate portability (Surface Pro) and a gaming desktop (i5 3570k and GTX 660 Ti)But I am looking for a laptop for the times where I am out and I need a level of productivity I can not achieve on my tablet as well as being able to game. The surface pro can run the games but it gets really hot and I am afraid I would end up melting it.

I have looked into some gaming and business end laptops since they are reliable. Also looked into dell's inspiron lineup.

For MSI I am looking into the GE60 and GE70 models, latest ones with the i73630QM 8GB GTX 660M
The GT60 and GT 70 similar but with a GTX 675M

ASUS gaming laptops have similar specs too.

Alienware seems really expensive but I am told has good service.

But then I also dont really need a state of the art gaming machine and Was looking into ASUS n56 business and some HP envy's and Lenovo y580 and so on.

And on topic with my thread title, should I get one now or wait for the new CPU's... whenever they come out.

Nvidia and AMD won't be updating their gpu lines significantly for a while (probably just rebrands until next year).

dragon--trinity is basically crap for gaming (skyrim, wow, mmos need strong cpus which trinity is not). A trinity laptop with a dedicated gpu will cost $600+ (and hybrid crossfire sucks). He'd better spend $900 on a laptop with an i7 and a 650/660m (more than double the power for 40-50% more money).

There is the lenovo y500 SLI 650m for around 900-1000, i7 1080p.

Should be a bit less powerful than a 650 ti (70-80% of it). More powerful than a 7770 desktop.

I don't recommend gaming laptop because why would you buy a gaming laptop when you have a good desktop in hand? And since you say your budget is 1000-2000, go out buy 2 more gtx 660ti and its going to last you a long time. Or you like to throw money away and sell that gtx 660ti and go buy 2 gtx titan :))

Still would like a laptop to do some light gaming for when I go out of my house. Cant lug a desktop around. Tablet is good for my word processing and web browsing but sometimes I need to share and show off what I am doing and a laptop is much easier for that as well.
