glitch after sleep mode

I have a Alienware M17x laptop and something weird keeps happening. Whenever I close my computer when its still on or put it in sleep mode and then either open it or come out of sleep mode random apps will start to open and whenever i close them they pop open again and when i go to the start button it opens then closes and then eventually the system shuts down without me doing anything.
