Am currently using AVG, but the newest version installs a load on other unnecessary crap. Any other reliable alternatives?

Already have malwarebytes free and that's fine.

Thanks.

Solution
avast free, only install the main 3 protections and make sure you choose customize to deselect all the other features u dont want.

then i use malwarebytes free (not on demand) for general once a week cleaning.

If you are a power user running the latest operating system of choice, that doesn't visit shady sites or installs pirated software, doesn't have Flash installed, uses an Adblock extension in the browser and keeps it updated at all times... then no antivirus will be just fine.
