Ok you lot know your sh** when it comes to this stuff and i dont. I would mostly be using this for games and writing. So what do you think, have i found a gem?

I am not really sure about my gaming expectations. I am very new to PC gaming. I have an xbox right now and play skyrim and BF3. So i think games like that.

On a side note I just found this one, its very similar but with a few differences.

GTX 560M performance in Skyrim and BF3. Laptop graphics cards usually underperform desktop cards and console gaming.

Just get the $900 G53SW if that suits you budget. Already there was another guy on this forum who bought the same deal. Pretty good deal. Keep in mind that the XT1 is a cheap model and the XA1 is a standard model from ASUS. Usual differences are hard drive speed/space, screen resolution, ASUS backback/gamin mouse, etc.

THe second link provided is the previous generation G53 with previous generation graphics card. Though the latest version of G53 has 2GB 560M, its fairly slower than the 460M because of the difference in bandwidth of the 'gimped' 560M (128bit vs 192bit in 460M).

Not a big thing to worry about though. Both will beat any lower GPU by a huge margin. So it is worth buying these GPUs.

There are better options at $1200 level if your budget allows though.

I bought a gaming laptop a while back, and roughly 1 year later I opted to simply build a gaming desktop. The gaming laptop is now a really heavy internet browser.

If you do not need to game on the go, I strongly suggest building a gaming desktop.

However, if I was in the market for a portable gaming solution I would opt for the g53 from tigerdirect.
