Good laptop that will last

I'm looking for a half decent laptop to last for a couple of years. In general I don't like laptops so I don't really know much about them except the average lifespan is about 2 years. My girlfriends old laptop just went on the fritz and its gone beyond worth repair, it's slow as hell and crashes every 5 minutes weather its been freshly formatted or whatever. Not to mention the screen is on its way out. So I was thinking that I could buy her a new laptop as a present, but I want it to last her for awhile, she's not exactly into games, but she does play stuff like sims and the likes, maybe it could be able to run an emulator or two? My price range is about £300

I would look at a Inspiron from dell or a toshiba satellite since you're on a tight budget also does she want a 2in1?

I doubt it, she had a samsung galaxy tab 3 for awhile and didnt really like it but ill keep an open mind if theres anything to suggest?

The only laptops I have ever come across and heard of lasting the ages...unfortunately...are Macbook Pros

Those things just stay solid for a really long time.

I personally would go with the dell insperon range as it can play sims and last a long time.

Dell and Acer are bad brands. When you spend little you get bad quality. Save up for a laptop that lasts a while like the MSI cx61 or this Asus.

This laptop is way overkill just to play sims. Plus this laptop is well out of his price range and it would not be worth saving up to get this laptop as gpu's would have improved a lot by then.
