Hi everyone
i am looking for a replacement laptop for my nv78 from gateway (which has an integrated intel gma 900 video card. blech.) looking on tigerdirect, i found a laptop that seems to fit my needs, with a core i5 at 2.4 GHz, and a gt540m graphics card. my question is, has anyone used this lapto? if so, what do you think of it? also, can the processor be replaced, and is there a larger battery for the system? (like a 9 or 12 cell battery?) any help would be appreciated!

the laptop:

I managed to get a working link from your other post.
Acer Aspire AS5755G-6823

Looks like a good setup, especially having the vram. I am using a slightly better machine with the 2.6GHz i5 and really like it, Aspire 7741G-6426.

As far as upgrading the CPU, not something that is done, generally, with laptops.

As for a longer life battery, that all comes down to finding a 3rd party battery company. I've yet to locate one for mine, so ...

yeah, looks like they sold out. i have replaced the processor in my laptop twice (once to t9300 fro speed, then to p9600 for power efficiency). can the core i5 be removed at least, in case something goes wrong?

Upgrading the cpu in a laptop is not a journey I have attempted. Nice to now it can be done, on some models
