It overall is a good mid-range laptop.It can handle image/video editing perfectly fine and you can play games on medium settings.

I just need a good laptop to handle gaming, everyday usage, and preferibly have the 3D technology with it as well. I need FAST too!!! I currently have a crappy Dell laptop that is fairly old that is collecting dust because I can't stand how slow it is....

If you don't do any heavy 3D CAD work and such, you can cut the RAM to 4 gig, maybe put that into a faster CPU if they have it or just take the savings.

Make sure you realize a 17" laptop will be pretty big, and don't expect lots of battery life (probably will be 2hrs max when running).

M17x is overpriced IMO.
You can get more powerful laptops such as Sager NP8170 within your price range and customize it with HD 6970/485M which are more powerful than 460M
