Well, as long as their customers are at the legal age, dating sites should be treated in the same way.

It should not be google's job to say is it good or not.. otherwise google will look just like the Apple app store.

The reason is simple, women lose fertility much sooner, and more dramatically, whereas even 70 year old men can have kids. From a purely procreative aspect, a woman over 40 or so is essentially worthless, whereas a man can easily still reproduce and if he has wealth, or material possessions, can offer the female an excellent chance to have and raise children to adulthood. Because bearing a child is so much more difficult, women's fertility is of a much shorter duration, and their attractiveness fades with it.

Now, some twit will say some men like older women, or so on and so forth. This is true, just as there are homosexuals who fall outside of the norm, and efficiency of reproduction. But, by and large, it is more normal for men to be attracted to younger women than the reverse.

Fair or not, complain or not, it's just how it is. It's not even fair for women to whine to use about it, we can't help it. We're designed that way, and it's not so great for men either. It's a lot easier to get along with a 35 year old that has some idea what she wants, than a 20 year old. But, the 20 year old is instinctively more attractive.

Maybe if they changed the name to something like.. Jaguars then people would support it. Because jaguars are cool and cougars well... theyre not a very exciting animal. But yea if a older man looks to have relationship with younger women its called either:

Google's doing forced social engineering just like other social media sites. They've decided what's socially acceptable based on negative ad revenue from the constellation of corporations that might balk at them not taking action against cougars. older men and younger women might not be encouraged but it's not taboo like older women and younger men in western society. It seems with google and apple that far too many social conservatives might just be gaining the upper hand and with the advent of the ability to connect any number of people together via social media sites sharing connectivity between people, there is the risk that social conservatives could ostracize vast numbers of people simply because they don't conform the conservative social norms.

Why is a Jaguar more interesting than a Cougar?

Cougars are beautiful animals, and the greatest of the small cats. There is footage on YouTube of a female defending her cubs against a massive Grizzly, and giving it a sound beating.

I don't see why you'd feel so strongly about a Jaguar as opposed to a Panther. They are both beautiful, I think Panthers particularly so but I guess all cats are, and both superb hunters.

The part I hate is this word is now tainted by this new meaning. I guess these women like to think they are similar to these beautiful, sublime, graceful, and predatory creatures, but no doubt fall quite short.

Men and Woman are not the same. Simple enough. The difficult part is trying to put as good a equilibrium as possible that benefits both parties still.

I though Google would have been promoting cougars for free, they're just that awesome. Guess I was wrong.

Except that marketing is also forced perspective, is it not? So to say that Google is the worse of two evils is a bit silly. If someone wants to turn my child into a porn star and I say no, am I limiting freedom of choice? You betcha. But I know what's best for my child. Of course, being a porn star could make her rich and ultimately bring my child wealth. Who's to say right?

The fact is that if men and women of any acceptable age are happy together nobody can judge. So I think Google is in the wrong here. However, I think I should be able to make a website for 30-40 year olds to hook up with 21-25 year olds too. I happen to be 30, so it would be a great time to do it.
