When are they going after Al Gore and the INTERNET???

What a bunch of assholes for being bad parents blaming others for what their children are downloading/watching/playing/f**king/etc/etc.

Who the F*CK buys porn apps? Jesus christ the internet is full of free porn, why do you need an app? I want to make a commercial showing some kid browsing millions of porn pages on the iPhone's Safari browser and stating something like "wow, this really is the real internet, thanks Apple!".

Ok, so maybe Google should have an option to prevent installing apps so they can lock-out their kids. Of course, maybe parents shouldn't buy their kids smart-phones. Kids only need phones for 1 reason, to call home and be available to be called by the parents. Give you kid a phone that is capable of anything else and you have only yourself to blame, not Google or Apple.

p.s. How many free porn apps are there on the Android Market place? I know my phone wouldn't let me buy any apps until I updated by Google Shopping account with a credit card. So seriously, who attaches a credit card to their childs Google Shopping account, then blames Google when their kid buys porn with the credit card they gave them free-reign too?

Christ, if I see another article where irresponsible parents blame some corporation for not raising their child right, I'm gonna run around town with a broken microwave mass-sterilizing people. If you can't raise your own child right, you should lose your parental rights. No one else should be responsible for the fact that you got drunk and forgot to wear a condom one night 15 years ago.

How about giving your children basic phones instead, then they can't access it! Thats like saying cable TV should not show nudity because my 14 year old has a Plasma in his room with HBO! don't make the world raise your kids, raise them yourself! And tell your kids to watch out because mine bites (he is 1).

I, for one, am glad we have these groups out there policing these evil companies that expose our innocent children to porn! It's far too much bother to actually be involved in active parenting and it cuts into my Lost viewing time. Now, if only these companies would police thought crime too I could sleep easily at night.

You can install any porn app you want on Windows Mobile. It's a side effect of allowing apps to install on the phone that aren't vetted. And they better not change that, or there will be some pissed off people.

so the PC is ok, but lets go after mobile phones? Once again this is the dumbest thing I have ever heard of. You would have to kill USB connections you would have to restrain the browser, which BTW is still open on the Iphone, and lets not forget MMS and email in which both can receive video and pics.

well thought out. well thought out indeed.

This just goes to show Android is still an immature product; they should have parental controls from the get go. Any modern operating system like Windows 7 has it, so why shouldn't the mobile versions have it ?

I don't agree with Apple's philsophy of banning certain legal content from the App store, but nobody is obliged to buy that product.

However I do agree that some form of parental control should be implemented, just like it is already done on the desktop.

It is that simple; as for adults they should have free acess to whatever they want, as long as it's legal.

Maybe its just me, but why are parents giving cell phones to kids? i really see no reason to have a cell phone until you are able to drive, since that gives you so much more independence. By that time 16 year olds really shouldnt be "corrupted" by seeing naked ppl. hell my high school had 3 or 4 girls with kids on the way at age 16, I'm sure that's a small number compared to some other schools.

Don't give cell phones to 8 year olds. problem solved.

"Google currently does not offer any type of parenting control for Android-based devices."

I just get a kick out of all these people trying to find ways that parents don't have to parent.

As a parent of two kids (now 20 and 16) and having grown up with computers since acoustic 30 baud days I don't think computers/phones need to block access to this stuff.

Parents need to teach their kids what's acceptable while they are the responsibility of the parent/s and if they don't follow the rules, take their stuff away from them as a punishment.

Oh, but that means that these lasy parents will actually have to pay attention to their kids and spend time with them too.

This is definitely not good...the Steve Jobs infection is spreading and his minions are lurking around touching everything...eew.
What..first he brainwashes everyone int believing that the latest invention (folders and multitasking) for the iPhone and their iPad (*refuses to add word to dictionary*) are the mark of another REVOLUTIONARY idea...someone has to stop.
In the mean time, grab your androids and run....

Meh...who pays (or would) for porn anyway?????

"This could be problematic for parents who purchased an Android-based smartphone for their children..."

Simple: don't purchase an Android-based smartphone for your children.

Parents Television Council

Great, so the same people who ruined TV are setting their sights on phones now. Next month, they will go after libraries for having copies of Farenheight 451...
