"google is not responding" on many occassions

I constantly get a msg that shows "google is not responding" whether I'm in IE--Firefox or Chrome---very frustrating--I also have gmail---any ideas

is it that its not responding or are you getting --waiting on google - waiting on who ever, and its like its hung up and not loading the pages ??
