Google is slowly shuttering Fitbit — should you still buy one?

I bought two Versa 2 watches for my wife and I shortly after they were released in 2019. We used the hell out of them and overall appreciated the FitBit ecosystem/app. We decided that they were getting a little long in the tooth and opted for the very good trade-in value Google gave us to switch to the Pixel Watch 2 when it launched and give it a try.

After less than one week with the Pixel Watch 2 we figured out we truly HATED them and I immediately bought us both the Sense 2 and sold our Pixel Watch 2s for a loss on Facebook Marketplace just to get rid of them.

It cannot be overstated how vital battery life and screen size/proportion is for us. No amount of tweaking the settings could break the 24 hour mark for us. The fact that we had to charge our Pixel Watch 2s every single day and sometimes twice a day was absolutely unacceptable to us.

We both track our sleep, she has a heart condition and needs to be able to monitor her heart rate several times a day, we track our steps, and we like being able to go through our phone notifications and pause/skip music with our watches; that's the bulk of our use-case. The Sense 2 serves most of those purposes while only needing to be charged every 6 days or so.

I dread what our options will be when the Sense 2 becomes too antiquated to use, but we'll hold on to them for as long as we can.
