With so many new features, improvements, and updates to Google maps, I'm amazed that a basic issue is not resolved. I often look up something on maps, then want to get a general orientation of the location. I first zoom in, and then move the map a little bit in any direction to simply see the major crossroads. This is pretty difficult, because the labels for major roads are only displayed once every several miles at a minimum. Google maps identifies all the small roads, however for the major throughways I don't see any label. In order to see this I have to scroll many miles down the street while zooming in and out. By the time I eventually come across the name of the road, I am very far from my original location, and frustrated about why this is so tedious. Would it be so difficult for Google to display the names of the major roads more often when the map is zoomed in? This seems like a pretty simple fix, and would be a great improvement.
