The "other" primary change is that if you pay for additional storage, you loose your free storage for mail and photos; all storage needs are taken from your G1 paid space. I suddenly found that Google had moved my mail and photos into my "new" G1, reducing the amount of space I had available. Prior to "new" G1, I paid for EXTRA 100gb and that was ADDED to my account allotment, for 145gb total. Now I have 100gb total.
Unless you are currently a paying customer, then all the linked site offers is to notify you when Google One is ready in your area, the same thing they've been saying for months. So, this really is not a release in my book, just a way to get new customers. They should be taking care of their longtime paying customers first. J
