got sparks at power port plugging in adapter before plugging into wall first time

Sparks from brand new laptop Asus 502 at power port. This was the initial and first attempt to attach adapter to laptop. Fresh out of the box, not even fully connected at laptop and not into wall ever yet, got sparks and noise. Is this bad? Will it become dangerous? Is something fried already?
