I just purchased a gaming laptop for a decent price...and just finished installing all updates and installing BF4.

-Windows is set to maximum performance
-MSI software set to gaming performance
-no other programs running
-laptop is not hot.. can not play anything to get hot
-laptop is plugged into the power adapter

Laptop:
MSI GS70 Stealthpro 096
I7-4710hq CPU
16gb ram
gtx 970m 3gb GPU

I could not run BF4 on any setting without having low 20fps.

I ran furmark and could not get past 10fps!

From what I have read online I should be able to play games on high to ultra with mid 50's fps.

Any help would be great!

19V x 3.43A = 65.17W

The original adapter is rated 150W.

That's your problem, as you earlier surmised.

If you could get a replacement that is 180W, even better. It would give you a little headroom.

It was indeed the power supply I was using. I went to Staples and bought one that as the recommend specs per the laptop and it was night and day!
