Hello there, Tomshardware community.

I will buy a new laptop within a week but i just can't find out what would be the laptop equivalent of my old GTX285. I do know that every 4th and 5th gen i7's are better than my old Q6600. But i really want to know what laptop graphics card i need for atleast equal or better performance. I have been looking at a laptop with a 4720hq a 960m(2gb gddr5) and 8gb ddr3 but can't find good gaming benchmarks/comparison of the two cards.

Please let me know what card i should get in a laptop for equal/better performance. Thanks in advance.

well, according to this website, 960m is way more powerfull even against 285m on sli. but against desktop 285 you could compare the result from that website with other on the same benchmark. lots of info in there since the results are in from multiple cpu+960m combo so you can at least approximate the processor you'd want to go with it.

The 960 will do doughnuts around an old 285 card.

Integrated graphics might even be better then a GTX 285 (of course you cant play modern games with integrated graphics).

The 960 is right around where you want to be at, its a good middle of the road graphics chip. You should be able to play most all games on high settings and 1080p screen. If your screen is less then 1080p (like 1386x768) then you can run games on ultra.

Are you talking about the 960m? because that sounds like good news. Not sure about the 285 getting beat by the integrated graphics though.
