Might kind of be a silly question. If your PC has been infected with keylogger, can hackers read what you type? Or does he has to be physically in front of your computer to read them?

I've just recently found out I've been infected with one at the virus was found in Malwarebytes Anti-Malware/prog/keylogger.exe (surprisingly it's named keylogger) strangely but I've deleted it. but i still want to know the answer to the question. Curious

Also, what is a good follow-up step i should take?

Usually a keylogger will create a text document somewhere on your PC and then that text document will be sent to or read by the hacker
