Hard drive accelerator card in dell laptop needed after swapping for a SSD?

I have just ordered a used Dell Latitude 2120 laptop for cheap dollars and am planning on replacing the OEM 160 Gb HD with a Intel 730 SSD that I happen to have on hand; hoping to get improved performance.
In reviewing the Dell service manual, it looks like they use a separate "HARD DRIVE ACCELERATOR CARD" along with the HD.
Should this card be removed in order to use the SSD? Is it necessary? Will it slow things down? Speed them up?
Any info on this card would be very helpful.
