Anyone have an idea on how to do a hard reset on a Marantz NR1602 ? Mine died in a firmware update. I've tried the Enter+Return+Power as well as unplugging and waiting. Nothing seems to work (no power light, no display).

Marantz support told me to take it to a repair center and the repair center offered to help but the probable cost would exceed the value of the receiver.

But I still need a receiver.

Suggestions ?

The NR1602 has a three year warranty so if it is still covered your should only need to pay for shipping to the service center (they pay return shipping). With this type of firmware issue the cost should not be a lot even if you have to pay. The best authorized Marantz service is an outfit called United Radio in Syracuse NY. I suggest you contact them.

Unfortunately this unit is out of warranty (purchased second hand). I contacted the Marantz repair facility in Baltimore - they were helpful and honest. The cost to replace the board is about what I paid for the unit. Not a good deal.
I think a new receiver is my only recourse at this point.

Thanks for the reply,
