Solved! Hard reset problem

Helping a friend do a hard reset on a Tab 4 and yes she's the original owner. Her daughter managed to change the password and the unlock pattern and then forgot both. We figured out how to start the hard reset but it just shows downloading and there's no network to connect to because it's only a Wi-Fi tablet and it's not connected to any mobile service. How are you supposed to get to download finished when you can't download and how do you get rid of the downloading screen so that it just continues on?

It should still download. Did you make sure the WiFi was turned on before you did the reset? Turned on in the tablet and the modem/router.
