A week ago I got a blue screen of death on the laptop while some updates were being installed. Afterwards, attempted system recovery, restore to old recovery point. Managed twice to get to windows to start but after 5 minutes, the blue screen comes up. Blue screen comes with different error codes. SYSTEM_THREAD_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED, IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL, PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA, WHEA_UNCORRECTABLE_ERROR, etc. Called Microsoft support. They said my RAM has gone. Changed the RAM with a new RAM. Same thing. Dell thinks it is the memory or the motherboard. They ask for ridiculous money for repair. In essence, their supports amounts to marketing expensive repair options.Shame on Dell! The laptop is only 2 years old and taken care of, all the time on an office table and not moved around. I have tried fresh windows install with usb bootable device and with dvd bootable device. Blue screen comes up all the time. Hardware diagnostics passes with no errors. BIOS is the latest v 1.2.7. I am happy to install everything fresh but I can't do even that. Tried most of the bios options. No luck. Any ideas? Throw the laptop? Will never buy Dell again. That is for sure.
